The \u00c5land producer responsibility scheme is separate from the mainland Finland producer responsibility scheme.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the \u00c5land Islands producer responsibility for packaging is a legal obligation for companies from 1.1.2025<\/strong> onwards. The responsibility lies with companies that pack in \u00c5land to the \u00c5land market, import packed products to \u00c5land or sell packed products in \u00c5land by distance selling. An exception to this is so-called service and grower packaging, where the producer responsibility lies with the manufacturer in \u00c5land or importer of the service or grower packaging in \u00c5land.

When a company enters into a contract with Finnish Packaging Producers Ltd (FPP) regarding the \u00c5land EPR scheme, it transfers its collection and recycling obligations for packaging in \u00c5land to FPP. FPP is a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) operating in both mainland Finland and \u00c5land Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are only two things left for the company to do after signing the contract:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Report packaging data to Rinki*.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Payment of producer responsibility payments based on packaging data<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    <\/div>\n\n\n\n

    The 2025 packaging data is reported to Rinki in January 2026. The invoicing of producer responsibility fees will take place after the reporting. A separate price list will be published for EPR fees for \u00c5land, the price list for Mainland Finland does not apply to \u00c5land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    *Rinki Oy is a service company established and owned by the Finnish industry and trade, which handles the collection of packaging data from producers, customer service and invoicing of EPR fees on behalf of FFP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
